more snow than ever before.

It has been snowing for days and it doesn't seem like it is anywhere near stopping. I can't recall a christmas with this much snow. AMAZING. My dog Paisley loves it, and it is very funny because he drowns in the snow. Enjoy.

Uh.oh.
Too much snow for the trampoline to handle.

christmas.

Hope all of you are enjoying christmas! I was just outside playing with my brother and sister in the snow and now we are watching Grinchen with our christmas stockings filled with goodies.
At 3 o'clock I'm invited to dinner at my boyfriends house and yesterday my family and I continued the tradition of dinner at my aunts house.
We had so much fun playing Wii, talking, opening some presents and eat amazingly good food.

I'll post some pictures from outside in just a couple of minutes.

must be santa.

Can't believe it, but tomorrow - it's Christmas eve. I'm so excited. After a long day at work, I'm relaxing in the sofa corner, watching Home Alone 2. Cute. My sister is laughing so much.
I think I'm going to bed now. The best thing about christmas is waking up early, finding my christmas stock full at the end of my bed.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, READERS!

blog post number 200.

Dear my amazing, lovely, patient readers! I'm so sorry for NO blogging the last couple of days. I just haven't found the time nor inspiration! I have been busy with my last days at school, shopping christmas gifts, unpacking my bags from Riga, deepen myself in Malcolm Gladwell's "The Tipping Point" and trying to find the christmas spirit. You know the one you remember from being 7 years old waiting for Santa Claus. I'm struggling a bit to find it, but as I told my boyfriend the other day, while discussing this, I guess the problem is we're grown up. Well, well. I'm wrapping up christmas gift, scrapping christmas cards and listening to the very best christmas songs - so I'm not complaining!

This is my blog post number 200, btw! I love blogging. It's easy when I have such great readers! I just want to hug each and one of you! I'll be giving you an update from today a bit later - I just have to upload my pictures first!

I got a mail from a lovely reader yesterday, asking for pictures from my trip to Riga - and of course - it's coming. Promise. LOVE.

What do you call people who are afraid of Santa Claus? Claustrophobic.
- Author Unknown.
I'm leaving for Riga tomorrow, along with my 6 amazing girl friends. We are spending 5 days in Riga, with shopping, spa treatments, café and museum visits and loads of smiling and laughing. Since I will be gone until sunday - therefore it will be no updates here at my blog before sunday afternoon-ish. Hopefully, you will be here by the time I come back to see all the pictures from the trip.
I'll be blogging again sunday, cupcakes! Until then - have a great week!

An Eritrean woman.

I'm so extremely tired. Even though I've been working all day, this has been some of the best days I've had in a long time. At the bus home from work, this amazing older woman sat down next to me and started talking to me. She could barely speak any norwegian, but she tried, and we talked with our hands and with the little norwegian she knew, and we understood each other. I asked where she was from and she answered Eritrea. We talked much and mostly about African culture. She was so amazingly kind, and she was telling me about her favorite food from Eritrea - Injera. This african woman I didn't know much about looked shocked at me when I told her I didn't know anything about Injera. Suddenly she started digging in her bag, when she found what she was looking for, she looked upon me, smiled and said "Here you go". She took something weird looking up from her bag - it looked like pizza dough. She gave me a piece of it and told me to taste. I tasted and she laughed of the way I eat it. She showed me how they eat it and she looked so happy when I copied her unhesitant. When I told her the next stop was my stop, she gave me a whole piece of Injera. She had bought 7 of them, and she wanted me to have one. I told her I couldn't take it, she just gave it to me and smiled. I asked this adorable older woman her name, and her eyes smiled back in a way I have never seen before. Her name reflected upon those deep, smiling eyes. Huriyyah. I googled it. It means angel.

december 5th - outside the snow falls.

"When it snows, you have two choices: shovel or make snow angels"
-Author unknown.

It's saturday, I'm drinking tea and doing some homework. Outside the snow falls. I want to go out and play in the snow - like I used to when I was younger. Every winter I fall for the tempt to go out, all rapt up in winter clothes, playing around with my dog in the snow. I love it. I think that's the source of staying young. Making snow angles, snowmen, enjoying the cold, sparkling flakes in the dark and gloomy winter weather. I'm going out, because it's outside the snow falls. It's outside we allow ourselves to stay young - where we find the child in ourselves again.

back to the cabin.

Photo by me, November 29th, 2009.
There's many places in the world I like spending time, but there nothing like spending time at the cabin.
I guess there is just something about the atmosphere, the fresh air and the amazing silence and view. I want to go back now.

Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.
- Norman Vincent Peale

I woke up this morning to the gorgeous, warm light from my little christmas tree. Outside it was dark and gloomy, but the white snow all over the lawn lit the mood up a little. I went to open my christmas calendar - and mom - I mean SANTA gave me a beautiful ring!

At work today I decorated our funny little christmas tree. I mean - it's really funny. I'll post a picture of it tomorrow. We had so much fun laughing at it today.
Good night, cupcakes.
